Our History

Brief History of the Village of Cross Keys

The Village of Cross Keys was designed by The Rouse Company on 68 acres of land that had been part of the golf course of the Baltimore Country Club.  The planned community, comprised of a mixture of housing, commercial buildings, and recreational spaces, was built in the 1960’s and 1970’s.  Initially an all-rental apartment development, the Village of Cross Keys today is comprised of nine condominium communities.  While each condominium association has its own management company along with the owners of the office, hotel and retail spaces join together to maintain the common entities including the streets and landscaping.

Caves Valley Partners Development Company has purchased the commercial areas of Cross Keys and have begun an ambitious renovation of the Village. They have completed the Gatehouse and entry to Cross Keys and are now in the process of renovating the Village Square (Town Center). Once the total renovations are completed, Cross Keys will be the premier destination for local shopping and dining venues.

Living in Cross Keys will allow you to walk to breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as to shop a variety of local merchants. For residents there are the three swimming pools, tennis/pickle ball courts, walking trails and the Clubhouse for a variety of activities. Many professional offices are found in the Quad and above the Village Square. The Delta Hotel is conveniently located adjacent to the Village Square.
